What's the Doctoral Thesis?
The Doctoral Thesis will consist of an original (published or unpublished) piece of research by the candidate, in any field of knowledge. It should capacitate the doctoral student to work autonomously in RDI.
Apart from meeting the requirements of the area of knowledge in question, the thesis should include at least the following:
- An introduction or preamble explaining the objectives and the hypothesis of the research plan expounded in the thesis.
- An explanation of the methodology used and the results obtained.
- A concluding section highlighting the scientific contributions of the thesis and any progress or advances made therein.
- The thesis report should also include all the references (bibliographical, documentary, or of any other type) required in each area of knowledge.
- A report by the director/s of the doctoral programme. If they do not belong to the UPO, the thesis should be endorsed by the doctoral student’s tutor.
The thesis should be expounded and, if necessary, defended in the languages habitually used for scientific communication in the corresponding field of scientific, technical or artistic knowledge, and should include a summary in Spanish.
